Day 19: back to Texas

It has been a great three weeks, but we are ready to be home!  We made it from California to DFW with no problems.  I was even able to link up with my friend Marilyn who was connecting in Dallas too.  We did a few last minute plans for our trip in a week and went our separate ways.  Not long after she left, I got a text from her about a big storm cloud that was approaching and something about the bottom is about to fall out!  Well wouldn't you know it . . . the rain came and the airport literally shut down.  No flights were allowed to land or take off and all jet bridges were shut down.  Seriously?  Our connection was delayed over and over again and then I got a text saying it was cancelled.  I jumped right up and went to the desk to get rebooked on the next flight before they even announced the cancellation.  The two gate agents had no idea the flight was cancelled!  Of course in true fashion that flight was delayed over and over again too.  After over 5 hours of waiting, we boarded and were on our way. The sad thing is we could have rented a car and driven home much faster.  My poor parents were waiting all this time for us to arrive too.  I called and had them bring us dinner from Chick-fil-a which was a super plan.  When we arrived, it was a mess since three flights arrived at the same time and the staff seemed minimal too.  After waiting for an hour, only one of our bags arrived . . . we did a claim for the other two and were on our way.  It was 1:08am when I crawled into my bed . . . oh how I missed it!

Fast forward to the next day . . . I got an automated phone recording saying my bags arrived last night and to expect a call for delivery.  At 4:00pm still no call so I called the help number . . . they were confused as to why no one had called so put me on hold.  This is what they wanted to do . . . send our bags back on a plane from Killeen to Dallas and then to Waco.  Are you serious?   I told them that would have worked if they would have not waited until the end of the day and sent them on the first flight of the morning but absolutely NO; they could bring them to my house.  To make me even madder they refused to bring them to my house since it was more than 55 miles (I mapped it; I live 58.4 miles from the airport); are you kidding me?  No they were not kidding so instead had them delivery to my parents house (they live 48.5 miles from airport) which was a little bit closer but not much.  I can not believe that crappy customer service but at least I had our stuff!
