Big Island, Hawaii day 1

We have arrived in paradise!  Of course I could not wait to get to the hotel to relax.  The flight was pretty good.   We flew on Alaska Airlines from DFW to Portland then on to Kona.  I went to pick up the rental car and had the nicest agent ever . . . I mean this guy was super nice!  When I booked the rental car many, many months ago, I had a pick up of 9pm and of course our flight was changed so we arrived at noon.  When I tried to modify the reservation the price almost tripled so just booked a separate one day rental.  He was nice enough to combine them and it only cost me a little more.  It was worth every penny!  We arrived at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.  We quickly checked in to our upgraded suite . . .

. . . that sofa was my bed . . . and let me tell you it was super comfortable.  We unpacked our suitcases and headed out with a map to explore this place.  Of course Colin just had to swim and play for a little bit, and well we needed to stay awake as long as possible  . . .
Colin quickly started making a mental list of everything he needed to do the while we were here but little did he know our agenda was not up to him!  Hawaii is four hours earlier than Texas so by 6pm we were ready for bed . . . I am sure we will wake at the crack of dawn!

  1. Did you wake up at the crack of dawn? I always do when I first get back to the islands. Your photos make me want to be there especially with our recent cold blast!
