Day 3: Magic Kingdom

As fate would have it, I again planned our FastPass+ for early!  You know this planning sixty days in advance what you want to ride and when you want to ride is still growing on me.  I am not so sure I like it but don't dislike it either.  We arrived a lot faster than I expected so we took a detour to Tomorrowland to ride Colin's favorites; Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

One of these days we will get down which was to look to get a good photo on Space Mountain . . . but let me tell you we are all 'game on' when it comes to Buzz . . . I never win . . . it is never even close!
So let's be honest our first FP+ was an arrival window of 9:55-10:55am for one of my most favorite rides, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  I just love this ride.  Colin was on the hunt for a churro because he was starving!  I knew there had to be a stand in Adventureland and after asking a couple cast members we found it!  So we both had the breakfast of champions; his churro and we split a Mickey pretzel too.

I was trying to time the rides so we could ride our first and second FP+ without any wait time.  It worked out somewhat well but as we arrived to our second ride, Splash Mountain this is what we saw . . .
. . . never a good sign to see cast members getting people off the ride!  So I quickly logged on to the My Disney Experience (MDE) app . . . which is an absolute must to check times and keep track of closures . . . and changed that FP+ to a different ride in the afternoon.  Bummer that Splash Mountain was closed but not sure I would want to ride it anyway if there were problems.  To satisfy the kiddo, he had another churro and we headed to another ride that he has never ridden before, Haunted Mansion.  He wasn't so sure about it but said it was a good ride at the end.  The odd thing was we both got into our Doom Buggy and a girl came running up and jumps in with us.  It isn't crowded and she could ride in her own buggy but for some reason crammed in with us.  It was odd but we went with it.  We took a short cut through Fantasyland and was almost ran over by a billion strollers . . . note to self avoid this area during day time!  We had some time to waste before our last FP+ so we took a spin in the teacups at Mad Tea Party!  Then ventured over to Tomorrowland Speedway . . . why he loves this I don't know but he sure does!  Our final FP+ for the day was at the newly opened Seven Dwarfs Mine Train . . . the line was 130 minutes long . . . who stands in a line for over 2 hours?  We sure don't so we scanned our MagicBand and were on the ride in about 5 minutes . . .
. . . it was fun but no way would I wait in the ridiculously long regular line!  The cuteness of the Seven Dwarf in the mine was great and the turns and drops of the ride were fun too!  So glad we have another FP+ later in the week to ride it again!  We were both hungry so off to lunch.  I was looking forward to the food this week and spent a lot of time researching the best quick-service restaurants.  It seems the Magic Kingdom is lacking in this area but the Columbia Harbour House always had good reviews so off we went.  I ordered a Broccoli Peppercorn Salad and a kids fish and chicken nugget meal.
. . . I wasn't so impressed with the kids meal but the salad was yummy.  Colin devoured his fried shrimp basket which is odd because he refuses to eat fried shrimp at home . . . he loves some sauteed shrimp in garlic butter though.  As we were eating lunch, I checked the wait time one last time for Space Mountain.  I noticed the app said we had a free FP+ for a ride of our choice due to Splash Mountain being closed.  So where do we go?  You guessed it to Space Mountain we go.  We both wanted something sweet so we agreed on cotton candy and a bottle of cold water before we head back to the hotel.    Who doesn't need some pure sugar cotton candy?  We quickly changed and headed to the pool to relax and swim.  Who doesn't like a slide?
We were in the pool for a couple of hours and then headed off to Downtown Disney.  Colin wanted pizza and I wanted a sandwich so we settled on Wolfgang Puck Express.  I must say both of our meals were yummy and the portions were huge too!

. . . and of course we just had to go to the Lego Store too!
We enjoyed hanging outside and listening to the music but back to the hotel we went.  Tomorrow we change resorts and so excited to be walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios!
