Day 8: New Hampshire to Maine

Sound he did sleep!  It was a sloooow start for the youngest member of our group this morning . . .
We loaded up the car and headed towards Maine.  It is probably the longest drive of the trip but so beautiful too!  We drove on the Coastal Highway US 1 which was nice and slow.  Our lunch stop was at Red's Eats in Wiscasset, Maine for a lobster roll!  The line was around the block . . .
. . . but we waited even though some complained.  The day we ate at Red's Eats a lobster roll cost $22.  I was a little surprised too but . . .
I had sticker shock but once I tasted the huge chunks of fresh lobster it was so worth it!  What I wasn't expecting was for it to be cold but so yummy too.  Colin and I split one roll and he ate his fair share.  Sometimes I wonder who this kid is?  We continued to drive making stops in search of lighthouses but really just wanted to make it to our final destination of Bar Harbor, Maine.  I was a little disappointed that we did not see much of the coastline since we were driving the scenic route highway 1 but many small towns . . . it wasn't bad but just not as scenic as I had imagined.  I was glad we drove this route on the way up since we had time.  We quickly checked in to the hotel and set out to explore Bar Harbor.  Great town . . . I loved the laid back vibe and it was only in the 60s outside!  We stopped for dinner at West Street Cafe.  I was still full from the lobster roll at lunch so just had a small lobster bisque that was yummy.  Colin had shrimp and was beyond excited when he learned they had blueberry pie.  He has wanted to try blueberry pie for a long time . . . not exactly sure why but he always ask for blueberry pie.  He said it was yummy!
It was getting late and we were tired from the long day so back to the hotel to relax and swim.  I really do love this town and glad we are here for two nights.
