I am going to call this our vacation from vacation trip . . . and since I was sick all week it is so much easier to relax away from home than at home . . . like I need an excuse to go spend the night at a hotel. One thing that hardly ever happens when we get in the car is this . . .
. . . seriously why couldn't he wait and sleep when I could sleep too! Anyway we really came to Austin so we could go to an event at Camp Mabry. First we had dinner at Kerbey Lane Cafe. Usually when we come to Austin we meet family and eat pizza so this time I thought I would branch out even though Colin did ask to go to Little Deli & Pizzeria! I had Chicken Fried Chicken with Green Chili Macaroni. It was yummy and the portion was huge! We were about 2 minutes from Camp Mabry so made our way to the museum for a night of hands on fun. The event was from 6pm-9pm. We arrived at 6:01pm and the line had at least 50 people waiting to enter. Thankfully we waited in the shade. Colin had a blast and was so in his element. He always amazes me on his knowledge of military weapons and vehicles . . .
. . . after two hours of fun it was time to leave and we both had a craving for ice cream. Not being familiar with Austin we just headed to Baskin-Robbins . . . I know there must be some awesome places in Austin, but we needed fast and easy. We were both tired and ready to get to the hotel to relax! I soon discovered that I forgot my pjs . . .ugh!
We managed to both sleep so well we missed our free breakfast. Our first stop was to Target so I could buy some pajamas. I went right to the sale rack and found some that I just loved! Since we were super hunger and both wanting pizza we found East Side Pies . . . we drove past it twice since it was so small. I had a slice of red sauce veggie with farm fresh squash and arugula AND a slice of marinated peaches with red onions and gorgonzola . . . peaches were a little spicy but both yummy!
Colin had a slice of boring cheese and pepperoni. It was back to the car where our fun would take us out of town for nothing but relaxation!
