Seattle, Washington

I recently found a new show on the Travel Channel called, 36 Hours.  As the title mentions two host spend 36 hours in a city giving ins and outs of lodging, eating, and activities.  I have only watched a couple of episodes and think the idea is neat.  So this past weekend I had my own version of 36 Hours in Seattle, Washington.  I have been to Seattle a few times and really do love the city!  I have visited in January, July, and now September and the city has been busy all three times!  I did not venture out too much as this was a trip about reconnecting and relaxing while revisiting a few of my favorite places from past visits.

36 hours:  arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
35 hours:  walk to the light rail station and head to downtown Seattle; best $3 spent
34 hours:  arrive at Seattle Hilton; check in, get settled, head to executive lounge for appetizers
33 hours:  head to Pike's Place Market; it is closed but so nice to enjoy it empty!
32 hours:  dinner at The Pike Brewing Company
31 hours:  dinner at The Pike Brewing Company
30 hours:  back to the hotel for some sleep
29 hours:  sleep
28 hours:  sleep
27 hours:  sleep
26 hours:  sleep
25 hours:  sleep
24 hours:  sleep . . . hey I like my sleep!
23 hours:  slowly wake up and head to executive lounge for breakfast; I sure do love lounges!
22 hours:  venture out for some people watching near Pike's Place Market at where else?  Starbucks
21 hours:  not many people out at 8am . . . but it is so nice and cool outside compared to Texas . . .
when I left Texas it was in the upper 90s and today 60 feels so awesome!
20 hours:  walk to Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room.  It was an uphill walk but good too.
They roast the beans in house and only serve that coffee at this location.  It smelled so good!
I am wondering if this is a new concept to come at other locations?  Very hip and modern
19 hours:  head back down hill to just enjoy being outside; people are starting to wake up!
18 hours:  venture to a really cool REI store, stopped at the EMP and bought tickets for the afternoon,
and hiked all the way back to Pike's Place Market . . . so glad it is cool outside
17 hours:  lunch at two of my favorite places; Mr. D.'s Greek Delicacies and Bavarian Meats.  Yes,
I had lunch twice within a couple of minutes and it was soooo yummy!
16 hours:  hike back to EMP (Experience Music Project Museum) for our time slotted entrance; we
were a bit early so had a dessert at The Confectional . . . chocolate peanut butter cheesecake
and lemon white chocolate cheesecake . . . both were yummy!
15 hours:  enter the EMP to visit the special exhibit Star Wars and the Power of Costume.  It was
               really cool!

14 hours:  more exploring at the EMP Museum . . . it is interesting and odd at the same time
13 hours:  By this point my feet are so tired so we take the Seattle Center Monorail (which was built
for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair) back closer to the Hilton.  Picked up our bags at hotel and
               rested for a few minutes
12 hours:  ride the Light Rail from downtown Seattle back to Sea-Tac Airport
11 hours:  check into the Seattle Airport Hilton and relax a bit
10 hours:  dinner at the only hotel near by, Spencer's Steak and Chop House, it was very good
9 hours:  still eating and chatting and letting my feet rest
8 hours:  pack for super early flight home tomorrow
7 hours:  watched the movie A Million Ways to Die in the West . . . silly but funny
  6 hours:  sleep
  5 hours:  sleep
  4 hours:  sleep
  3 hours:  sleep
2 hours:  startled from great sleep with a breath taking loud phone wake up call
1 hour :  get dressed and head to airport, zip through TSA PreCheck and security
0 hours:  on the plane and quickly fast asleep . . .

It was a great 36 hours.  Hey at least I caught up on my sleep!  Another shocking fact is that I took exactly 10 photos all weekend . . . in fact did not even bring a camera just used my phone.  Oh and when I checked how far we had walked today . . . 11.21 miles . . . wow, no wonder I am tired!  It was so nice to be outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather in a great city . . .
While 36 hours does not sound like a lot of time, if you make the most of your time you can really accomplish a lot!  I can't wait to do it again . . . wonder what city I should visit next?
