Day 5: Sea Day

I slept so good last night and woke up refreshed. Today is a sea day which means a lot of nothing. Since I woke up refreshed, I headed to the upper deck to walk some laps around the track. It was a beautiful morning.
Then off to the dining room for a slow leisurely breakfast. So here’s the thing about this cruise, the population is older which I like. When I say older, I think at least 75% are over 70. I have seen a few children but less than 10. Of course, this brings up a slew of questions but for the most part I do my own thing and smile at the stares as I dine alone.  I have absolutely no problem eating by myself!  There are things I like when on a cruise. I like to sit at the same table at dinner with the same server at a set time.  Unfortunately, I was stuck with my time dining which means I show up at any time and get a different server every night. I am not a fan at all! I did request the same table every night and at this point I haven’t been successful but will keep trying.

I spent some time by the pool soaking up the sun and enjoying the views.  I spent a lot of time today reflecting on life and what happened 23 years ago.  I snapped this photo of a rainbow.

The photo above was taken on 9/11 at 9:11 (which I had no idea) and is photo img_3911 on my camera.  I found this a bit spooky and did not know until I am sitting down editing and writing this.
Is it a sign?  If you know me and my journey since Sean died, you know that I am a big believer in signs.  Today is September 11.  I remember that day in 2001 so vividly.  It is my generation's where were you with it happened moment.  I will never forget it.  I felt a sense of helplessness since I was living in Germany.  Our lives came to halt when the military base I worked shut down for several days.  It always pulls at my heart how that day changed my life and our country.  The ship captain came over the public address system and read a very touching tribute and then we had a moment of silence.  You could hear a pin drop and it was amazingly quiet.  Actually, the entire day was pretty low key and somber.

It was then back to hanging out and people watching and passing the time with towel folding and ribbon roses.  It is funny the things you do when you have nothing to do.  I was not that good at either, but I am certain if I had my craft room supplies, I would be doing amazing.  The sky was putting on a show all day and the sunset was breath taking!
A new critter hopped into my room today!
