Today is a travel day but first I must have breakfast . . . three courses today! It’s all presentation but taste so good too.
I think I am at the point in my travel days that I prefer to stay in same location for a longer period of time. Packing, flying, and repositioning is a pain . . . actually any type of travel is a pain as it it unknown just what might go wrong these days.
I arrived at the airport before check-in opened so I just sat an people watched. So at the check in counter a large group showed up with a lot of luggage. I’m talking 2-3 extra large suitcases per person. There was absolutely no order when the desk opened so I pushed my way right in line since I had been there much earlier. If you don't assert yourself you will be last! Fast forward to leaving, plane was delayed over an hour due to the massive amount of baggage; they did come on the speaker and tell us why we were delayed. Seriously, I think every article of clothing I own would fit in three of those suitcases.
I’m flying on Azores Air which is what I think is a bit of a budget airlines. It seems perfectly fine and even served a snack for a 2 hour flight. On US carriers you’re lucky to get a drink and bag of snack mix; granted the meal was not something that I really ate but it was the thought.
I have arrived to São Miguel Island. It is one of the islands that make up the Azores Islands off the coast of Portugal.
There is no ride share on the island so it was a taxi with no meter that had seen better days. Just a flat 10€ from airport to city center . . . thank goodness I had cash! I got checked in and settled at the hotel. This is probably the cheapest hotel (50€) I have stayed at in a long time. It was not anything fancy but clean and right in the center of town!
