Yesterday I tried to book tickets on my own for the hydrofoil to Bratislava but they were booked. So I walked to the tourist office to see if they had any tours and of course they did. While I don't like tours normally, I figured if I wanted to see this town then this was the only way so I booked seats for 1.5 persons . . . poor Colin is only half a person, LOL. They even said they would pick us up at our hotel at 7:30am . . . tour started at 8:30 and lasted 8 hours . . . I know what was I thinking? So I knew it would be a super long day!
We were downstairs at 7:00am . . . found a bakery for a quick breakfast and was sat to wait for our ride. They showed up on time and we boarded the van . . . that took us to the local bus station . . . that dropped us off at the Bratislava terminal . . . where we met our guide. It really isn't as bad as it sounds. Our group was only 13 people or 12.5 with Colin so it was nice. Our guide spoke good English and Colin was not the least bit interested. BUT it was the best 2 euro I have spent lately . . . the small dozer he was playing with . . . our group and my boy . . .
. . . even though he could have cared less at least he did not interrupt! He really did a great job considering it was a 2.5 hour walking tour and we walked a lot up and down a lot!
A few photos from around town . . .
There was funny thing on the tour we learned and Colin told me to not take any photos of it but I did. Here is the photo . . .
. . . the guide said the story goes that the king was parading in the city streets and the boy wanted to see him but had to go to the restroom. When he heard the cheers he ran out to see the king and forgot his pants . . . who knows sounds like a folk talk but cute.
Our tour was over at 12:00. Lunch was served and we had free time. The boat left at 2:30 so we had a little time to walk around. I got Colin some much deserved ice cream and sat on a bench planning what to do when we got back to Vienna . . . it was only going to be 4:00pm after all! The ride back was nice even if the "Blue Danube" isn't that blue after all.
Remember at the beginning when I told you the hydrofoil was sold out? Well, the same one that I tried to book on my own was the one we took back to Vienna. It was not sold old as it holds about 100 and only 40 were on board. I guess the tour groups book it and the boat people consider it sold out. I'm just saying someone could make some more money if they researched it better!
Let's just say when I looked over and saw this . . .
. . . I knew the day was done and honestly I was about done too! So I changed plans and decided to just head back to the hotel for a swim! It was SO nice!
