LEGOLAND, Germany

We spent last night in Gunzburg so we could be just down the street from LEGOLAND. I am sure most people would not even know this town . . . I sure did not . . . but if you are a kid you would SO want to visit. Colin had been asking to go to LEGOLAND so I figured since he has been such a trooper the last 5 weeks then a day of fun was in order . . . and fun was had by all!
We had a great time! We arrived at 10:05 am and left just as a rain cloud dropped a few sprinkles at 6:15pm . . . well and we wanted to beat the mad rush when leaving too. Of course one of my favorite things were all the LEGO creations especially all the critters!

Colin had a blast especially on the roller coasters . . . I was not as thrilled as him! He tells me his absolute favorite thing of the day was the Fahrschule or Driving School! The 'instruction' was all in German so we were given a card to 'study' before the 'class'. He was very serious and learned the 8 or so signs quickly . . . the rules were a little harder but just told him to stay to the right.

He was whisked away to fahrschule and the adults were left behind outside to wait . . . I admit I was worried that he would freak out due to the language barrier but the doors opened and he was off to find his car. Of course he picked a red one . . . he still had his 'cheat' sheet in hand but quickly took off on the road. All the kids did really well . . . I mean turn 30 kids ages 7-13 loose on cars that go and oh my what a mess it could be! Oh and Colin is only 6 . . . they never asked his age and he was bigger than some of the kids so we played dumb or just typical European and not follow the rules . . . I know bad but the other car track for kids ages 3-6 was way too little for him. The neatest part of the track was a 'car wash'. The rollers moved but did not touch you and it puffed/misted water . . .

. . oh and there was a traffic circle/round-a-bout too.

I guess he 'graduated' because he now has a REAL driver's license and apparently he thinks he is qualified to drive when we get back to Texas . . .
I admit I was a little jealous and so wanted to drive the cars too but don't think I could pass for 13, LOL. When the day ended I asked him about the 'school'. I wanted to know if they spoke any English to him and he replied, "Nope, I understood nuffing because it was all in German but I watched the video." He was so funny! I think only him and one other boy did not speak German because they had the laminated cards of the German phrases translated . . . the other kid spoke Russian so they could not even help each other! I tell you I would have been nervous in a room but he was determined to drive those cars! One of my favorite rides was the boat ride . . . no tracks and you were basically turned out into a 'river' . . . my driver was good . . . the pelican was spitting water on us!

Miniland was pretty cool too . . .

We had been to the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Berlin but that was all inside and no rides! According to Colin, "Mommy this is the REAL LEGOLAND and I had SO much fun!" It was worth every penny. I have also just been informed that 'Kid Day' continues tomorrow too . . . well not exactly but we are boarding yet another plane on Saturday . . .
