Colin has been wanting to check out the Legoland Discovery Center in the Dallas area since he knew it opened. I had a coupon for a free ticket so we combined the visit to see the other grandparents. I was SO disappointed from the minute we arrived! We got there at 10am when the place opened and it was mass chaos trying to buy a ticket. I thought the tickets were expensive but hoped they had something inside that made it seem worth the money. It was a zoo and then they only let in about 30 people at a time. It was downhill from there. Of course Colin had fun from the minute we entered . . .
His favorite part was the Lego Racers area where you could build a car and race it on the tracks. It would have been nice if the adult men would have stood on the outside so the kids could enjoy. Of course I then understood that they paid $20 and wanted to get their moneys worth too but come on it is a kid attraction.
I was ready to go after about 20 minutes . . . so much stuff packed into a super small area. The 4D movie was Bob the Builder which we don't watch . . . the Duplo area was nice but again seemed crowded. They did have this huge indoor playground with slides but you could only enter if you had socks! They were very strict enforcing that rule and many crying kids were turned away. We were in a shopping mall so The Children's Place liked that because I bet they sold a ton of socks every day! I will not go back . . . if we would have not had a coupon it would have cost us $36 but since I had a free child ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket it was okay. I could go on and on but honestly since we had been to Legoland Germany and to Legoland Discovery Center Berlin this place was terrible . . . okay I did enjoy the Lego Mini Land of the DFW area so not a complete waste of time. Of course you exited into the Lego Store which did not have a huge selection but maybe because they have only been open for 3 months.
