Day 1: to Wyoming

And we are off . . . our first adventure of the summer!  We took an early flight from DFW to Denver and hit the ground running. We caught the shuttle bus to pick up our rental car . . . I have never enjoyed this process and today was no different. I managed to get a very unfriendly guy who tried to 'upsell' every possible option. I was firm and continued to tell him NO and then he became rude and snarky with me.  I also think he gave me the oldest car on the lot too.  Let's just hope it survives.  Oh well we were on the road shortly after headed towards Wyoming. Our first stop was Cheyenne, Wyoming at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. Today was free admission because of the grand re-opening of the children's room so that was nice. The museum was full of coaches and wagons. I was disappointed but it was free after all.
The next stop was the Wyoming State Capitol which was closed but beautiful no less!
It was back in the wagon and westward ho!  We made a few off the beaten path stops.  It was nice to see a sign for something and just pull off the highway and stop.  Ames Monument which honors the two Boston industrialist who were vital to building the 1st Transcontinental Railroad . . .
Vedauwoo Rocks . . .
Lincoln Monument . . .
The last three stops were totally random but fun to stop.  Wyoming also has some very nice rest stops with very helpful people.  It was getting late so no more stops except for the hotel!
