Day 8: Wyoming

Our list was all marked off except Colin needed to turn in his Junior Ranger Book so he could get his patch . . . one of the nicest Rangers we have ever encountered!  She was a delight and it was easy to tell she loved her job.  We took one last stroll around Old Faithful Geyser to watch it erupt again . . .
You can see people in this photo on the right side . . . gives a perspective on how tall it actually gets and remember it is not the largest geyser in the park.  We got on the road and just like that we were leaving behind Yellowstone . . .
It was another day of driving with our destination for the night being Cody, Wyoming.  Along the way we stopped at the Buffalo Bill Dam.

Not exactly the best place for someone who fears heights but a nice stop to get out and move around.  We checked into the hotel and headed downtown to the Irma Hotel to watch the gunfighters nightly show.

It was cheesy but glad we went.  Across the street was The Cody Dug Up Gun Museum and admission was free so checked it out too.  I snapped a few photos and then noticed the no photography signs.  Oops!  Did not break the rule on purpose so will not post any photos.  This private collection was unbelievable.  He had guns from everywhere imaginable and each time a new person entered he asked where they were from and knew exactly how many guns from that state and where they were located.  The displays were amazing and some of the nicest I have seen.  We ate dinner at Adriano's the pizza was yummy as was the salad too.  Back to the hotel for a swim and laundry.

  1. That is beautiful terrain. There is no place like Yellowstone on the face of the earth. There are things to see at Yellowstone that can't be seen anywhere else in the world. It's a national treasure and it was a treat to see photos of it.
