I missed taking photos at the Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces so had to stop there again too!
Much different than the geysers but amazing too. This is Liberty Cap; a dormant hot spring cone . . .
The drive was good and I am amazed at how diverse the park is driving around. It always amazed me we would see these guys carrying on with their business as if we were not there.
We needed to get out of the car so stopped at the Fountain Paint Pots for the short hike . . .
More driving and another hike at the Biscuit Basin . . .
. . . I could watch these things all day long! Our final stop for the night was the Old Faithful Inn.
As we were driving into the parking lot Old Faithful Geyser started going off; how cool is that? The inn is just amazingly beautiful inside. We arrived in time to join one of the tours of the inn which was well worth our time since it was free! The tour was over and we headed outside to catch a closer look at Old Faithful Geyser. As we waited in the freezing, windy, area it started to sleet and snow. Seriously? It was crazy! Old Faithful went off and we sort of just forgot about the weather. . .
. . . I was amazed at how many people sort of left right after it erupted as it continued to go off for a little bit. We checked into our rooms which I had booked myself a room in the original Old Faithful Inn (I was in Room #1) . . .
. . . it was super cool but the room was seriously dark! The only downside was it did not have a shower or toilet in the room but had one upstairs. It was not bad at all and at least I did not have to go outside! The send off of our time in Yellowstone was having dinner in the restaurant which was a nice way to end our visit.
