DAY 1
Every year my parents take Colin to Galveston. The last few years I have joined the fun. This year we stayed at Moody Gardens . . . mainly because it was the cheapest place I could find but it is also across the street from Schlitterbahn which is the main reason we go. I went and checked in and got the room key. We literally hiked to the room; man that place is huge. I opened the room and first noticed it was only one bed and not the two he told me it was, and then I looked to my right and noticed a suitcase open . . . a suitcase that was not ours. Oh crap, someone else is still in the room. Thank goodness they were not in the room and that we are honest people. So we hike back to the front desk and was told oh he made a mistake and gave us the correct room keys. We got settled in and headed out to dinner and to the beach for Colin to play.
We headed back to the hotel to swim, watch fireworks, and of course have some ice cream too!
DAY 2
Our morning was spent walking along The Strand Historic District and visiting the shops. We had yummy fish tacos for lunch at Yaqa's. Our last stop was La Kings Confectionery which was packed with people and sweet treats! We had never been to The Strand and it was enjoyable. Of course Colin wanted to head to Pleasure Pier for a few thrills so off they went while we sat in the rocking chairs at Murdoch's . . . it was so relaxing! After the thrill seekers were all thrilled out we stopped at The Spot for a yummy burger and fried pickles too. The place was packed but service was fast. It was back to the pool to swim and watch fireworks.
DAY 3
Well wouldn't you know it we woke up to rain! I had already bought tickets that would expire before we would be back in the area so we had to go. It wasn't looking that great but we put on our swimsuits and headed out to the water park in the rain. As Colin said, "hey we are going to get wet anyway!" Spoken like a true expert . . . so off we went. I mean who goes to water park in a downpour? We do of course and apparently not many other people. It was Schlitterbahn time.
As you can tell hardly anyone was there which was super nice. Colin was ready to leave at 3:30pm. He was so excited that he found $6.52 in lazy river. I swear this kid is all about finding money! We went back to the hotel and got all that yuck off and headed out to dinner at Mario's. Too bad it wasn't their Sunday Brunch. To end the night we headed to play a round of putt-putt or miniature golf as some of you call it.
Colin had a hole in 1 on first hole and last hole so got a pass for free game . . . now I have to keep up with the free game pass for the next year! He was SO excited when he won on the last hole; my ears are still ringing from the loud buzzer!
