to San Antonio, TX

Twice a year we like to hook up and travel with our friends, The Drake Trio.  The winter takes us to the slopes and summer to a beach.  The three kids have fun (well, most of the time) while the moms chat it up!  This year the summer trip was super easy for us as we were the pick up and chauffeur!  I was thrilled to not board another plane after our busy summer so far.  So we zipped down South on I-35 (yes, we zipped . . . if you know I-35 that might be shocking) to Austin to pick up our Lone Star State guest!  We all piled in the Volvo and headed farther south to San Antonio!  It really was a pretty easy drive but that might have been that we took the toll road too!  It was worth every cent.  We pulled into the Emily Morgan hotel and unloaded the car.  We managed to snag two awesome rooms that were connected.  FYI:  it made it much harder to corral the kids when time to go to bed!  Team Drake knows how to get prime rooms!  The kids were a little hyper so we headed out to the River Walk for dinner.  We had dinner at the very touristy Casa Rio and then rode the River Walk boat.  It was H-O-T and crowded and the line was long, but we did it.  It was so hot that a woman on the boat ride actually passed out; no one seemed that concerned but she came to thanks to some quick thinking.  Seriously, her husband decided they would continue on the boat ride.  I would have been a little upset but here is the kicker.  The tour guide/boat driver was so kind and called for help and gave her his unopened bottle of Gatorade; we watched and they did not even give him a tip at the end!  WOW, I was surprised . . . he could have passed him two bucks to pay for the drink.  We had a cold drink and a quick stop back at the Alamo for a night time photo . . .
We could have had a perfect photo with no one in it but that group behind us was literally there for 15 minutes taking a million of the same photos.  Oh well . . . it was fun to get back to the hotel and hang out before bed.
