It was a leisurely wake up. Of course since it was Saturday morning the restaurant was packed! We finally got a table after much confusion on our name and the number in our party. It always bothers me when there is a language barrier but we are in Texas so it really annoyed me this morning. We finally got a table and had our 'free' breakfast. We were packed and ready to head south to South Padre Island. I was excited as I have never been this far south in Texas! The drive was not that bad and the kids were all cooperative which made driving so much easier! Before we crossed the bridge we stopped at HEB to stock up on our groceries for the rest of the trip. Now I love HEB but this had to be the smallest, most unorganized HEB I have ever stepped foot into; of course it being Saturday afternoon probably did not help either. We got almost everything on our list . . . I was shocked they did not have fresh shrimp! Go figure since we are on the water. Of course all good things must come to and end and as I was checking out, I requested the kids go to the car (with the other adult) because it was crowded. Of course my kid acted like a stinker, and I had to get ugly. Why is it so hard to follow directions? And why does 10 seconds of bad behavior spoil an entire day of good behavior? We zip over the bridge and arrive at The Beach House . . . that is the name of the condo we rented. I had major issues with the key code . . . MAJOR issues and luckily some nice European guy gave me his code . . . well he got out of his car and entered it for me. I probably would have still been there punching buttons! So we arrive at the condo . . .
. . . not a bad view and then you step outside and the heat/humidity literally takes your breath away! It was a great place. We unloaded the car and stash all the groceries and head to the beach! Colin loved looking for shells . . .
. . . and I enjoyed just walking and taking goofy photos! Look at my looooonnnnnggg legs!
The water was so nice and clear! This is the best Texas beach that I have been to by far.
We enjoyed the beach and water for a bit and headed back to the condo for a yummy dinner, Shrimp Cesar Salad. Of course Colin had the shrimp without the salad. The sautéed shrimp were a hit with the girls! Who knew something so easy would go over so well . . . think I will add it to the winter vacation menu!
