Surprise! We left the beaches of Hawaii not too many days ago and are now in the mountains of Colorado. It is our annual ski weekend trip with our friends and this one is a BIG one for me! The kiddos are super excited they get to ski for the next three days while I am content to just relax and age gracefully! The drive from Denver to Breckenridge is so pretty! The weather is perfect. We started with a great breakfast at Embassy Suites and headed for the slopes!
We are staying at yet a different condo this year . . . Crystal Peak Lodge at Peak 7 . . . the living room view is so amazing I might just sit by the window and never leave . . .
. . . while this place is so much smaller than the past years, the location is the best and outside the door is the gondola that takes us every where we need to go. Talk about nice! We settled in and put all the stuff away as the natives were getting restless so off we went to explore. Today is our 'let's get used to the altitude' day. We were both having issues this year especially Colin. First stop was to check in and make sure all was good with the ski school. We had promised the kids we could buy a day pass for the Alpine Slide but due to all the snow it was closed. The poor workers were digging out the tracks by hand. So off we went to downtown; I had purchased tickets on Groupon last month to the Ice Castles . . .
. . . was super fun to just walk around and admire the work of art . . . the ice castles were huge and still a work in progress but the kids loved crawling in this tunnel!
Back to the condo to relax and prepare for the first big day of skiing and snowshoeing! The altitude is still giving us both issues so hopefully after a night of rest we are good to go?
