We stayed up really late in hopes of sleeping really late only to wake up at 8:15. We went and ate breakfast . . .
You know I must have my iced tea . . . freshly brewed with ice . . . not that instant tea disguised as fresh brewed tea . . .
. . . and then to play miniature golf . . .
Colin asked to go check out the Ocean Adventures Voyager Club (9-11 year old kids). For a couple of hours I was free and didn't know what to do with myself. I just wandered around the boat and went to the room and read. I was in no hurry to pick him up because if he had a bad time, I knew he would not go back. He had a blast and was asking to go back when they opened up again. I let him play a couple of games in the Arcade (my least favorite area on the boat) before we met my parents for lunch. Colin wanted to go back to Ocean Adventures Club, and the adults headed to the Ice Show. I promised to pick Colin up before bingo, bingo, bingo . . .
They had these bingo machines that did the work for you and would make noises when you were one number away. Colin loved it. I won a raffle prize from the casino so we did not leave empty handed . . .
I went to casino to spend my not so lucky gold coin Colin was disappointed we won nothing. It was time to eat again so headed to the Promenade Cafe for some Coconut Ranger Cookies . . . they were so yummy! Back to the room to relax before the last formal dinner tonight where we would be eating lobster!
Oh and notice who went without a tie; it wasn't worth the hassle. Tonight the trick challenge was a wine bottle that was corked with a toothpick sticking up and a fork with a toothpick. The challenge was to balance the toothpick on the fork with the toothpick in the cork . . .
We did not get it but Jorge showed us and it seemed impossible, but he was correct! We again were greeted by a new 'friend' in our room . . .
And my monkey . . .
. . . asked to return to Ocean Adventures Voyager Club for an hour; so I headed to the track to work off those two lobster tails I had for dinner! I went to bed remembering that 16 years ago in 1998, Sean and I said 'I do' . . . who ever really thinks that part of the vows "this death do us part" will really happen at such a young age.
DAY 7
Our staying up late payed off since Colin woke up at 10:02am. The plan for today was to eat a big lunch at Johnny Rockets. It isn't a free place to eat but for $5.95 per person you can eat whatever food you want on the menu with unlimited quantities. It was fun and Colin loved the milkshake . . .
. . . I am sure it tasted better with three straws too! Today was the last day of Bingo, Bingo, Bingo . . . and the prize was a 7 day cruise for two. Of course it was a total bust, but we had a good time. I returned to the room to think about packing which never really happened before my long pre-dinner nap. We really have enjoyed our dinner service team each night. They were so nice to us and very patient with Colin . . .
They offered great service and taught Colin new tricks every night! Colin asked to go back to Ocean Adventures Voyager Club one more time which was good because those suitcases sure weren't going to pack without me. I got it all done and he had fun playing games.
DAY 8
Hello Galveston . . .
. . . our last cruise (January 2012) on Royal Caribbean getting off was a total mess due to fog. The boat was seven hours delayed so you can imagine the stress with those trying to catch flights; it was mass chaos as everyone thought they needed to exit in the first group. Thankfully there was no fog this morning and we were off the boat and driving our car away by 8:15am. It was a good trip and can't wait to cruise again.
