summer ROAD TRIP begins . . .

. . . well sort of . . . I am actually flying, but today will be a super long day of sit and wait, fly, sit and wait some more, fly, and finally arrive!  I don't know what I was thinking when I booked this ticket because the layovers are longer than the flights.  It must have been a great price?  So at the crack of dawn I drove to the small local airport to fly to DFW; thankfully I knew arriving close to take off would be easy since it is a small airport.  In DFW I had a 7 hour layover . . . SEVEN HOURS . . . and then our plane arrived . . .
. . . nope not going to Disneyland even though after all this sitting I am certain some time in the "happiest place on Earth" would do me some good!  I tell you I have never seen so many people take a photo of a plane.  I also wondered how many kids getting on/off this plane were disappointed when they did not arrive at Disneyland?  The flight from DFW to Seattle was good and entertained myself easily since it was less than 4 hours.  Our pilot was kind to point out when we were flying over Grand Teton National Park which is beautiful from the air . . . I am almost certain that I spotted Jenny Lake.  This was the first time I have been at Sea-Tac airport during normal hours when all the stores were open which was awesome since I had a 4 hour layover before my final flight of the day.   As I sat at the gate the flight before mine was heading to Hawaii . . . oh how that would be nice . . . but instead I boarded the flight to Alaska.  It was a long, painful flight and I was oh so restless and bored and so over traveling . . . by the time I arrived to the 'land of no darkness during the summer', I had been awake for over 21 hours and of course had a hard time falling asleep.  I am already dreaming about a nap tomorrow!
