Arrival to Cyprus which is my 47th country to visit!
Shore Excursion: Paphos
A quick stop at Petra tou
Romiou. According to one legend,
this rock is the site of the birth of the goddess Aphrodite, perhaps to
the foaming waters around the rock fragments, and for this reason it is known
as Aphrodite's Rock.
To the town of Paphos with our
first stop at Tombs of the Kings. This is an ancient cemetery
that is also a UNSECO World Heritage site dating back to 3rd century
BC. Each burial area consists of a stone
staircase leading to the interior of the tomb and a central atrium and the
burial chambers around the atrium. In the area
of the tombs there are one to two burial chambers.
Paphos Archeological Site . . . we spent most of the time in The House of Dionysos looking at the mosaic tiles. They were amazing! It was nice that they had elevated paths so you were looking down on the mosiacs.
Everywhere you go in Greece there are artifacts. It amazes me that most of the time you can just walk right up to them and touch them.
I have been taking my umbrella
every day in case it rains. Thankfully
it has not but the sun is super hot so today I pulled it out to help with the
rays. I swear it feels so much hotter
but it is only 74 but feels like 104 with the sun beaming down!
It was back to the ship for an important meeting. Every passenger had to do a face to face walk-in appointment for our passport visa stamp for the next port. It literally took less than a minute and of course I wondered how much we paid. It really did seem unnecessary as they did not swipe or record any details about our passport so not sure how it really mattered. Just opened passport and they applied a stamp.
The seas were a bit rough and the boat was rocking tonight . . . I can always tell when the hangers in the closet are clanging!
Today all my meals were at Indulge
Food Hall . . . go figure right!
Breakfast: pancake with raspberry/blackberry sauce . . . and iced tea!
