Krakow, day 2

It was our first full day in town . . . so many things I want to see and do and so not sure what to do. We booked one of the "Crazy Guides" who do a Communism Tour . . . sounds odd I know but it was interesting. It took us to the Nowa Huta District outside of Krakow . . . it was an area that I had never heard of but interesting logic or pure craziness; not sure which one best describes it. We stopped at a Communist era apartment and several other landmarks of the Nowa Huta area. Here is a photo of Colin wearing a Communist Polish military police uniform, a row of the houses, and the emblem . . .

The best part was we did the tour in a Trabant automobile. Remember in March when we went to Berlin? If not, read here. The highlight was our guide took us to an old airstrip and taught us to drive the Trabant and then I got to drive! I am soooo in love and soooo want one of these cars . . . just looks at the pure happiness on my face (and Colin's too) . . .

The only bad part of the tour was it rained . . . a lot . . . but I wasn't going to let that spoil our fun! We got back to the hotel around 3pm and took a quick swim! The rain stopped so we decided to walk across the street to the Wawel Royal Castle . . .

. . . our favorite part was visiting the Dragon's Den!

Then back to the market area to do a little shopping and dinner at a celebration of 600 years of something!

Last stop was the hotel bar to have a super yummy dessert!

  1. Hey! I stayed up way too late catching up on your blog. Such cool stuff you've seen. That place in France with the big church up on a hill (the one pictured on the post card you sent) was amazing.

Anyhow, I was too tired to comment on all your wonderful pictures and adventures but then saw these pictures and just had to muster up the energy. I love the last one of you driving the Trabant. You and Colin look so happy. I love to see it. Take care! Elva
