New Orleans, day 1

It was all planned so quickly after a long phone conversation with a friend in Chicago . . . I thought she was joking but in 24 hours she sent a hotel confirmation and her flight information less than 48 hours later. So I got into action and booked me a flight too. It was going to be a weekend to hang out and relax with no real planning . . . like I was going to not plan . . . I had a loose plan but was really just looking forward to hanging out without a plan.

We both arrived early afternoon . . . it was hot and humid . . . but no rain which was so nice! We were at our hotel in about 15 minutes . . . wow, it sure was beautiful! We stayed at the Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria and it was first class all the way . . . a view of the lobby area . . .

"The Room" . . . to the right of the chair was a closet about the size of the room and through the far right door was a really nice, large bathroom.
We quickly dropped our bags and let the fun begin . . .
We walked around the French Quarter for a few hours and then headed back to the hotel to change for our dinner reservations . . . Mr. B's Bistro . . . it was yummy and then we headed out to Bourbon Street. It was as crazy as I remembered even though it had been about 15 years since my last visit . . . A&M played LSU when I was in college and midnight yell was held on Bourbon Street . . . fun times! Anyway, we met some real characters that night but really had fun chatting to everyone even if they probably had no clue what they were saying to us . . . for a moment I thought I was in Europe because there were so many stag parties . . . this guy had the t-shirt of the night . . . second time is a charm . . . they were both dorky . . .
As we bounced around we noticed this image on the back side of St. Louis Cathedral (at least I think that is where we were) . . .

. . . did you notice the time on the clock? We were out way too late . . . a little fun in one of the million tourist shops . . .

. . . if you are wondering about the 'tatoo' on my left ankle area . . . it is not a tatoo but one of the kiddos tatoo bandaids covering a missing piece of skin . . . just thought I had to explain, LOL.

We finally started walking back to the hotel and I found a friend . . .
. . . we got to our room at 1:55am! Day 2 is going to start in just a few hours . . .
