I was looking for something easy to do today . . . it has been a busy few days so wanted to focus on doing things Colin might enjoy. I saw a brochure for the town of Arroyo Grande that was only a couple miles down the road that looked interesting . . . we wanted to walk across the swinging bridge . . .
. . . and the Heritage Museum sounded interesting but it too was closed . . . I let Colin sneak a quick 'ride' and photo on this though . . .
This town was locked down except for the music we heard on the other side of the fence from the museum. We walked around the block and found these three characters . . .
. . . how fun they were! Well, their music wasn't that good but they were having a blast on Fat Tuesday and all decked out and in the spirit of Mardi Gras even though they were far, far way from New Orleans. Other tourist would pass by and enjoy the music and at least have a little laugh too! Since there really was nothing to do we decided to head to the Madonna Inn for lunch. It was on all the 'must do list' for the areas and well it was just okay but the bakery had some yummy cookies and the cakes were amazing looking! We grabbed a few cookies and sat outside soaking up the sunshine.
We continued down the road to Dinosaur Caves Park which really isn't a cave but a park with concrete sea life animals on a bluff overlooking the ocean . . . think beautiful views!
Next stop was the Monarch Butterfly Grove . . . we went a few days earlier but it was a bust due to the drizzly rain so we tried again. We saw a lot of Monarchs since the weather was fabulous!
We zipped back onto the PCH 1 for our final stop of the day in downtown Pismo Beach. Some towns have large cows or horses or bears but Pismo Beach has clams . . .
. . . the day is done and tomorrow we head south for a FUN adventure.
