more Yosemite National Park, CA

We started our morning off by renting bikes for a little stroll around the area . . .

Again the views were just amazing! Even better was it was before 9am and we did not see many people until we stopped for lunch! I was amazed at how few people were out and hardly saw a moving car either.

. . . just beautiful views and our little stroll was about 8 miles give or take. Colin LOVED every minute so that means next vacation must make sure it is a scenic area with bike trails!

We took a break at Yosemite Village. We walked around, enjoyed the shops, explored the museum, and had lunch at Degnan's Deli. The sandwiches were large and yummy! Of course Colin could not find one he liked so just order the bread. There was also a cemetery next to the museum so went back to check it out. There were not that many markers and they were very simple . . . one just read 'a boy'. We got back on our backs to head to the lodge so we could catch our tour of the Yosemite Valley floor area. Ranger Matt was very good! He gave a non-stop talk about the park. It was a great overview of the area and well worth the $15 a person!

A view of El Capitan . . .

A very popular stop is at Tunnel View which is immediately after exited a tunnel that is almost 1 mile long.
It was HOT . . . okay so not really . . . and even I was ready to go swimming. The water was still cold but once you got in and started moving it wasn't so bad. Our swim time was limited because we had dinner reservations at The Ahwahnee Hotel . . .
. . . the mega hotel inside Yosemite Park but WAY out of my budget! It was fit for a queen, who has actually stayed in the hotel! We did not want to drive due to traffic so had to take the bus . . . the same bus that the hikers and everyone else takes . . . sort of weird to get on during the mass exit time in a skirt all dressed up! There was a dress code which we were prepared for and Colin was questioning me, "what is a collar shirt?" It was funny but I have no clue what he was thinking he was going to have to wear. The food way very good! I'm not ready to leave but have almost seen everything I wanted to see . . .
