Arizona Adventure day 6

It is our last day to explore before flying back home so no time to waste! We said good-bye to Sedona . . . and one thing that we learned on our tour yesterday was that Sedona has the only McDonald's without golden arches . . .
. . . zoning held its ground and they have turquoise arches . . . good for them! I managed to score two tickets on the Verde Canyon Scenic Railroad. I had been calling and was told they were sold out for the entire week but managed to buy two online. I was worried it was a mistake so we went by there early to double check. They had two tickets waiting on us so I told Colin. We loaded back up and headed down the road to Tuzigoot National Monument.

Colin earned his 6th (and final) Junior Ranger Badge of the trip! There was still a lot of time before the train ride so we drove to the old mining town Jerome to do a drive by of the town . . . nothing exciting. It was lunch time so back to the depot for a quick bite while we waited for the train to board.. . .
The ride was nice and scenic . . .

. . . but a little long. About half way into the train ride we met a 7 year old kid from Iowa. He was SO annoying and he stuck on us like glue. He was with his mom and grandparents but they made no effort to come get him; I know why now! We tried to get away from him by going outside but nothing worked . . . I was amazed that the adults with him let him wander around alone. The ride back became boring for Colin until he had this guy land on his shirt . . .
As soon as we got off the train, I told Colin to hurry and do not look back because we needed to get out of there! It was back to Phoenix for our super early flight tomorrow. First we stopped for a in the car lunch . . . oh how I have missed this place!
YUM, YUM, YUMMY! I gave Colin the camera to keep him entertained the last half hour . . . he took several hundred photos from the backseat while I was driving . . . this was his favorite!
We finally made it to the hotel and went right to the pool area . . . great way to relax before you must wake at the pre-crack of dawn for the flight!

Total miles driven: 606 miles . . . pretty easy trip and laid back if you can believe that!
