Florida day 2

Of course I was cracking  the whip to head out and explore!  Our first stop was just a block from the hotel.  The Southern Most Point of the Continental U.S.A.
It is only 90 miles to Cuba and no we could not see Cuba.  Hail, Hail the Gang is All Here . . .
It was crowded in the area due to a cruise ship being in port, but we managed to survive the heat and humidity; it was yuck outside!  We headed another block over to The Key West Butterfly Conservatory . . .
. . . a really neat place!  They had tons of butterflies and other critters running/flying wild.  Colin tried the entire time to have a 'landing' and was finally successful.
. . . too bad I wasn't as successful snapping the photo.  I did manage to finally capture one of the beautiful, big blue butterflies . . .
They were so stinking fast!  We headed out for lunch . . . you know it is hard to please 5 people but we all settled on Sweet Tea's which was a comfort food type place with awesome sweet tea too.  I think the kids were just ready for some beach time.  We quickly changed and headed next door to Casa Marina.  We claimed our chairs and the kids quickly made new friends who were crab hunting.

I was just waiting for free Popsicles, cucumber slices, frozen towels and to just doing nothing!  We were determined to try again to find this mysterious Cat Man we had heard about yesterday.  We started getting ready earlier to head to Mallory Square to find the Key West Cat Man . . . we did not see him so I finally asked one of the artist.  She knew exactly who I was talking about; his name was Dominique.  She gave us directions and off we went.  We arrived just as his show was starting and what a kook!  OMG he was the funniest thing I have ever seen.

Seriously I can not even think about expressing in words how off the wall crazy this dude was . . . he was mesmerizing and the kids in the audience did not dare move one inch!  I am sure there is a video on You Tube but it was hilarious and so glad we went back to find him.  We headed to dinner at a new place called Luigi's.  It was mainly a take out place but we ate inside at the 2 tables.  It was yummy (especially the beet salad) and again made the kids take the long hike back to hotel with a stop at Kilwin's for Carmel Apples!  The adults decided on Kermit's Key Lime Pie for later while hanging out on the balcony without the kids . . . it was the first time for the adults to chat without interruptions!  Who knows what they were doing inside!
Our fun would be interrupted again at 11:15pm  when the fire alarm goes off again for over 20 minutes.  This is really starting to become annoying especially from a hotel of this status!
