Florida day 3

There wasn't really anything we just had to go and see today so decided to just take a walk around town; yes the kids were thrilled!  We stopped by The Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea for a quick prayer and candle lighting.  It was a very open and airy building.  There were some crazy roosters/chickens roaming around too.  Apparently they have a problem in Key West with feral roosters and chickens; I laughed about it but they were everywhere; there was even an article in the paper too!
SIDENOTE:  I laugh at all the silly stuff Colin takes photos of while we are traveling but perfect example of when you never know when he might have one of something I mention.  I better be careful he might start charging me for using them!

We continued over to the Key West Cemetery for a peak through the gates; it was massive.  The kids are quickly loosing interest in this walking tour which I understand because it is sort of boring and very hot out today.  We walked a lot!  The natives were restless so we headed to La Creperie for some tasty lunch!  Colin wasn't impressed with the menu so his finer palate decided on a hot dog at Circle K; I kid you not!
And no he did not get sick, LOL.  We all decided we liked our hotel pool and beach area over the sister hotel so we enjoyed spending time at the hotel.  Colin made a shark tooth necklace with the pool guys who were super nice and just fabulous!  I found an empty hammock and hung out . . .
We (and by we I mean M and the kids) flew kites on the beach . . .
It started to rain, thunder, and lightning so the pool and beach were closed.  These pool guys don't mess around.  When they close the pool they make you get out of the water in the pool and ocean; they don't take NO for an answer.  We headed to the balcony to relax and hang out.  Colin let the girls fix his hair . . .
. . . while I took a nap on the hard concrete!  It was nice.  We were getting tired of being trapped inside so decided to do a little recon for tomorrow morning when we catch the seaplane (yes, seaplane) to head to the Dry Tortugas.  Have I mentioned how terrified I am starting to become about this flight?  Just who had the bright idea to do this little excursion?  LOL  We also decided to find the Historic Seaport and see what it was all about.  What a nice surprise!  We had no idea about this place and had just been hanging out in Mallory Square.  We had dinner at The Commodore's Boat House . . . it was YUMMY! And it was happy hour so half price appetizers and drinks too.  I forgot the camera so no photos.  We drove around town just looking at houses and doing nothing.  We arrived back at the hotel and decided to let the kids swim!  They had a blast swimming at night while we had a free drink!  Tomorrow is the big day.
