HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me!
What a great place to spend my 39th birthday! I had so much fun yesterday that I decided to do it again . . . different trail of course and the best part? The kids were dropped off at ski school at 9am and don't have to be picked up until 3:30pm! We decided to do the Pence Miller trail which was 5km long. We started on Shock Hill where all the multi million dollar homes were located; maybe we can stay there next year?It was a beautiful day! The snow is not as good as last year but at least there is snow! We were always checking our phones to make sure the kids did not need to be picked up! The views along Pence Miller were so nice. We did not see anyone until near the end of the trail which was nice but a little spooky too!
I loved walking along the narrow trails with all the birch trees. We were on the lookout for critters but saw none! Before we left the Nordic Center we were warned there was a moose on the loose so be careful. The day could not have been any better!
I think I finally found my favorite winter sport! We headed back to the Nordic Center for a bowl of soup . . . I had yummy vegetable chili! The place was packed with people so back to the house to rest a little before heading to the top of Peak 8 to see if we could catch a glimpse of the kids in action! I am always amazed at how fast kids pick up skiing. Here comes Colin's class . . . he is in the blue jacket at the back of the group (our friend S is in the purple jacket/pink pants leading the pack) . . .
For the second year Colin and S were in the same group. They do well together and again this year made me nervous seeing them get on the lift alone . . .
The kids all had a blast and are very much in their element on the slopes! I am not a fan but it makes them happy! Colin humored me and let me take a photo of him and his instructor . . .
Since it was my birthday, I wanted to go out for dinner. My favorite place to eat in Breckenridge is Giampietro Pasta & Pizzeria. It is yummy! The plan was to go directly from Peak 8 to the restaurant because it is a very small restaurant and always busy. So we picked up the kids and took the gondola to town, walked two blocks, and were at our destination. We arrived and snagged the last table! SCORE . . . all seemed to be going well and the two youngest kiddos (Colin and A) began to have issues. I was beyond annoyed and took him outside for a not so nice surprise. We went back to the table and decided it was picture time since it was a little tense. This is too good not to share . . .
And that is exactly how he acted the entire meal! How I managed a smile I don't remember, but I am determined to make my last year of my 30s the best! Here's to the next 364 days . . .
Looks like so much fun ~ I'm going to invite myself and Logan next year ;) I could tell it was going to be an interesting story as soon as I saw the look on Colin's face. Was there no steak at the pasta place?!
