Day 15: California

Oh the sun sure is hot!  I keep wondering how we are going to survive the Texas sun (it will be at least 20 degrees hotter and near 100).  When I said today was going to be a lazy day; I meant it.  I finally got my act together, and we walked out the door at 11:00am to pick up our rental car for the day; which was not ready and a whole other drama.  The bad news was I forgot we were in California and the traffic is terrible.  I had two places to visit but due to my slow start we would only have time for one stop . . . at least Colin would love our one stop!
The USS Iowa . . .
It was a lot of climbing up and down but really neat . . .
Man someone doesn't have a summer tan yet; he is so pale!  Thankfully, he was so excited and it was not that crowded . . .

It was a good visit but time to get back on the road.  Of course no visit to California is complete until you stop at In-N-Out Burger
Not sure why I love this place, but I do.  It was the smallest one I have ever seen with only 5 tables so we headed outside to eat which was a delight!  It was a yummy burger, fries, and fresh brewed tea for only $5; yummy yummy to my tummy. In order to beat the afternoon traffic we headed back to the hotel to swim and relax!  Of course I curled up on the chair and took a nap!  It was delightful except for the two kids in the pool unsupervised; who does this?  I am sort of looking forward to it being dark tonight while we sleep too.
