I am in full vacation mode . . . no big hurry waking up and getting out and about to explore. I must admit it is sort of nice! Colin has loved it too as he gets that extra time to play video games with his cousins. The weather is not so great so we decided to head to Hampton and explore the Virginia Air and Space Museum. There was hardly anyone there. The first thing the boys saw was the simulator. Of course grandpa bought tickets and then grandma bought them more!
It was fun to walk around and we really enjoyed all the hands on activities. The boys loved the paper airplane making station . . .
. . . and Colin took us on a little trip . . .
We explored the museum until it was time to see the IMAX movie, D-Day: Normandy 1944 3D. The movie was good and the 3D was really cool too. We wandered next door to ride the carousel. It was a really beautiful carousel from the 1920s. It was renovated and moved indoors when the amusement park closed down. The horse and all wood and beautifully painted!
This horse is valued at about $250,000 . . .
The kids were all starving so we headed to dinner. Now when you get nine people together it is always hard to please everyone, but tonight we all agreed on Japanese Hibachi. It was yummy and everyone left stuffed! Colin and I headed to the Williamsburg area while the rest of the crew headed back to Virginia Beach. We checked into our hotel and were pleasantly surprised that we got an upgraded room . . .
I did not take any photos of the actual room but the map above shows just how huge our room (the one with the red dot) was especially for two people! I am so excited about the next two days of exploring!
