Williamsburg, Virginia

I have wanted to visit Historic Williamsburg for several years.  It seems every year one of my magazines has it as a 'must see' place.  It feels as if you step back in time as soon as you enter the streets.  The Governor's Palace is pretty impressive . . .
All of the people are dressed as characters and do a great job at portraying someone from that time period.  We stopped to see the Shoemaker . . .
. . . the 'owner' of The Greenhow Store gave a lesson of writing with a feather . . .
Kids today really have no clue about what life was really like back then so this was a good eye opener for Colin to see.  We were hungry and had a quick lunch at Chowning's Tavern . . .
. . . the soup trio was yummy!  We continued along on the main street and sat in for a mock trial at the Courthouse.  It was entertaining to say the least and had us laughing the entire time.  Colin was surprised by this . . .
It was fun to pop into the stores and shops to see how life was back then.  We made our way to the Capitol for a reading of the Declaration of Independence . . .
. . . and the flag on top of the Capitol . . .
A stop at the Printing Office showing how things were printed . . .
. . .  and the Blacksmith/Silversmith shops . . .
I just enjoyed looking at the houses and gardens too . . .
It was a fun day and finally found someone willing to snap a photo of the two of us . . .
It was time to have a little afternoon nap at the hotel and relax a bit before heading back out later tonight.  Colin enjoyed the night of just fun stuff last night so we headed out for more fun with a round of miniature golf!
Next to the golf place was a Dairy Queen so we ended our night with an ice cream treat.  It was a weird DQ unlike the DQs in Texas.  It was a walk up and order or drive thru with no inside place to sit . . . and they only served ice cream and hot dogs no burgers.  Odd to us but the place was packed and my mini Oreo Blizzard was yummy!  Back to the hotel to swim and relax.
