Dallas, Texas

Summer is officially over and 5th grade has started.  Oh 5th grade . . . Colin went to school for four days and now gets three days off . . . so what do we do?  Go out of town for the weekend of course.
DAY 1
A couple years back we went to the Lego KidsFest so when we heard they were returning to Texas, we bought tickets again.  He was thrilled to be there even if the photos don't seem like it . . .
. . . is it too much for him to smile for just one photos?  All he really want to do was go to the area where you build a masterpiece to display on the big map of the USA.  He spent a lot of time there and was so proud of his creation . . .
. . . he even spelled out SIMS at the top!  We spent our four hours visiting all the stations and the kids were d-o-n-e . . .
. . . so off to dinner and the hotel for a good sleep!
DAY 2
Everyone woke in a great mood . . . we had a nice big breakfast and headed out to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science . . .
WOW what an amazing museum.  We scored free tickets from a museum member so we entered before the general admission ticket holders.  We basically had the museum to ourselves which was so nice.  The kids had fun with all the hands on exhibits, and I really liked these benches throughout the museum with some interesting facts . . .
. . . yuck!  There was a special dinosaur exhibit and each kid got a free hat to wear.  At one point when inside the Discovering Life Hall, I saw this . . .
. . . I laughed, and Colin had no idea just how funny it was seeing a deer with a red dinosaur peeking out of the hole in the log.  It was well worth the quick visit, and we will definitely go back when we have more time!  When we left there were hundreds of people waiting in line to buy tickets . . . it was absolute craziness!
