Washington day 5

Yet another 5:30am wake up but that is good since we have a full day of exploring on the agenda.  Again we arrive to an empty parking lot except this guy . . .
. . . we head out to the Marymeer Falls Trail which was nice too . . .
. . . and then there is the waterfall . . .
Then the drive to Hurricane Ridge . . . it was crowded with cars and RVs so sort of a bummer but not that bad.  The drive up was slow and curvy but the views when you arrive at the top are amazing . . .
We studied the trail map and headed out on the High Ridge Trail.  The views were nice but man it was a straight up hike and exhausting for me but on to Sunrise Point . . .
Hungry?  Yes please with a view too!
Then we continued on the Cirque Rim Trail.  I really enjoyed all the wild flowers that were blooming . . .

One last photo before leaving Hurricane Ridge . . .
Our must see list was complete so we decided to go to our if time permits list and drive to Cape Flattery which was a far, slow drive.  Anyway, Cape Flattery Trail is the northwestern most point in the continental United States.  The trail is muddy since they do receive a lot of rain in the area but there were some areas that had really nice boardwalks.
Once you reach the end there are several look out areas with beautiful views.
The day was winding down and we were tired so back to the cabin to relax before dinner.  I just love this cabin and could stay here for several days!  I cooked a pre-4th of July meal . . .
. . . ribs with potato salad and iced tea and wine too.  I know what a weird combination.  Of course I was stalking the fire pit waiting for John to get the fire started so I could make a s'more!
It was yummy.  So the cabins do not have any sort of channels on the television but there is a library of movies to check out . . . since I had ribs and potato salad I was feeling all patriotic so put on European Vacation.  Yes, I know that that is probably not the best movie to celebrate America but you must admit it is pretty funny!  I mean an American family in Europe so close enough.  Sadly, tomorrow we must say good bye to this wonderful cabin.
