Today the fun started . . . I will admit I am still super tired and jet lagged . . . it has taken me a long time to get adjusted. We caught a late night flight from Munich to a city I have already been (March 2005) but enjoyed and will take a road trip to a place that has always fascinated me especially when I taught 5th grade. Just as our flight was to board a storm with heavy rain and lighting arrived . . . we had to get off the bus and make a mad dash to the plane. Oh and throw in 70 or so other people and it was soooo fun! We were only delayed about 30 minutes so not too bad.
The one thing I have noticed over the years is that on some European airlines (KLM, Lufthansa, AirDolomite) they usually give some sort of treat for children. This time it was an art set . . .
. . . it sure did help pass the 90 minutes. Of course none of the US carriers would even consider doing this because of the cost but it is really nice and Colin loves it! We arrived around 10pm and waited and waited and waited for our luggage to come off the plane. After over an hour about 20 bags showed up and then they told us that was all. About 50 people did not get their luggage . . . it was approaching 11pm and we were all referred over to the lost baggage claim area where no one seemed to want to help or figure out why so many bags were missing. I mean seriously no one seemed to give a flying flip! I was afraid the pre-arranged taxi guy would leave us stranded . . . the hotel was called to make sure they knew and to relay the message to our driver. Finally after over 90 minutes of waiting which was longer than the actual flight, some guy started looking at where the bags could be and all we can figure out is they were unloaded and not brought to the terminal . . . nice! We grabbed our bags and finally made it to bed around midnight. Not exactly how I had planned but hopefully tomorrow will be better . . . the guy at the hotel was super nice and Colin was a trooper and never complained!
