Today we were solo . . . I guess we were actually a duo and we have laid back plans. I wanted to visit a few museums and we had plans to ice skate when Logan got out of school! We were dropped off at the metro and I went to buy a day pass for each of us . . . the machine did not give change and the credit card reader wasn't working. The only option the supervisor gave me was to go see if the taxi drivers had change . . . of course none of the three did. What good is a manager if he can't help? We found another couple with the same issue but they found a machine that was accepting credit cards so we were in luck. We jumped right on and headed to town. Our first museum was The National Building Museum . . . it was recommended and just so happened they had a special hands on exhibit with Legos! It was okay . . .
. . . after visiting Legoland this summer, we weren't that impressed with the displays. Of course Colin's favorite part of the Lego exhibit was the hands-on building of his own personal building to add to the display . . .
. . . he was SO proud of his train station! The building as a whole was really beautiful on the inside . . . the outside not so much but I thought this sculpture in the front was neat!
We then decided to walk to the Air and Space Museum . . .
. . . first we had lunch and then explored. The food court was packed but the lines moved quickly. Colin was ready to roll . . . he was so overloaded he did not know what to look at next! Of course he loved all the life sized things . . .
He was ready to head outdoors for a snack of popcorn which actually meant he wanted to do this . . .
. . . we had packed some bread just in case. We sat outside the Natural History Museum for a bit . . . he fed birds while I people watched. We had a little time before our ice skating date so walked inside and explore a few exhibits on the ground floor . . .
. . . we headed back outside to ride the carousel . . . off all the beautifully painted horses he picked the solid white one . . . on ride two he went colorful . . .
. . . as the second ride was in progress it started to rain so we quickly called and informed Logan of the rain . . . we cancelled and we had two unhappy kiddos! So we headed to the Metro to catch a ride back home . . .
