It was our last full day in DC before we headed back home! It got cold overnight which I guess is really the normal temperature this time of year but the last few days it was been unseasonably warm. We spent the morning at Mt. Vernon . . . Colin enjoyed the treasure hunt they had for the kids . . . I was happy he was focused and we were able to explore. It was nice in the sun but the wind was nippy! We 'met' the Washington family first . . .
. . . and headed outside to brave the cold! George Washington's Grave . . .
They gave Colin a Treasure Hunt with about 9 questions and if he answered them correctly he would get a prize at the end. He worked hard to answer the questions . . .
Exploring the grounds . . .
A view of the front of Mt. Vernon . . .
and of the back porch . . .
We made two visits to all the animals so Colin could pet them . . . he sure loves animals and funny because I had the name Francis on my list . . .
The best part of Mt. Vernon was they had already decorated for Christmas . . .
. . . and this gingerbread house smelled so lovely!
Our personal chauffeur picked us up and dropped us at the Metro so we could link up for the Pentagon tour. Colin gave a 'briefing' while we waited . . .
The Pentagon 9-11 Memorial . . .
It was a good tour and very informative. The two soldiers that led us were very good . . . much better than the Capitol man earlier in the week. The day was done and time to pack to head back home for Thanksgiving Day.
