Colorado Springs area

We started our morning with a visit to the Air Force Academy Chapel. It was the most eye catching building on the campus.

Next stop was the Western Museum of Mining and Industry. It was a pretty good museum and the tour guide was VERY excited about the tour and very knowledgeable. They had a treasure hunt for kids so Colin got busy . . . he was really excited about the area where you could pan for gold or fool's gold.

We had some more time so dropped by the Colorado Springs Pioneer Museum. The building was beautiful . . .

. . . it was the old courthouse building and the displays were well put together. Colin wasn't so excited but he did manage to zip into each room!

Our last activity of the day was a chuck wagon supper at the Flying J Ranch. It was disappointing . . . the two things I thought Colin would enjoy (horseshoe demonstration and train ride) were closed. Bummer! The dinner was edible . . . what do you expect when they serve about 1,000 people in about 30 minutes. The musical group was good but it was late so we exited early for some pool time.
