Don 't tell anyone but we are both skipping school/work today. We arrived last night in Denver and headed to Breckenridge. Our first full day of winter fun and the snow looks so good! First stop was the Breckenridge Nordic Center. We sort of just hung out waiting for our lesson. Colin loved this old sled and just flopping in the snow . . .
Just hanging out waiting . . .
The gang is all here for our group skiing lesson . . . this was mainly for the adults but the kids had fun too!
We had a very patient instructor and the kids really did do a great job.
I enjoyed cross country skiing so much more than downhill but still not 100% 'in' to it. After our lesson we hiked to the gondola to go to Peak 8 for lunch. It was almost beyond that time, and we were all starting to get crabby! Now I knew it was expensive to do the whole ski trip thing and man they were not joking! We ordered a cup of soup, small pizza, one soda and spent $27! WOW that was nuts but at least it was good with an amazing view too; oh and don't forget great people watching too. We headed back down to the Nordic Center for a few more runs . . .
. . . and the kids were done. The condo hot tub was calling our name so back we went to relax! We caught our second wind and were headed off to our night activity. A sleigh ride up the mountain (thanks Groupon for the deal) . . .
I wasn't that impressed but the kids seemed to enjoy it and thanks to the discounted price it was a good deal. As we waited for the bus, Colin was not having a good moment . . . not at all. For some reason he did not want to cover up with the blanket during the ride and well his hands became very cold . . . yes he did have thick gloves but it was COLD . . . and just like that a full blown meltdown just front and center. It was not pretty at all and well I did not help matters trying to take a photo and laughing; I know not a nice thing to do. It was a long wait but we finally got back home and put him to bed . . . he was so tired too . . . all were in bed by 7:45 because tomorrow was the BIG day!
